Important intercultural operations to be done in banana farm to get maximum profits.

Banana is called Apple of paradise and you should take care of it as a banana farmer because when your management is good your profit will be good. Here I will tell you what are all the  intercultural operations to be done in banana farm for getting maximum yield and maximum profit.
The intercultural operations for getting maximum profit are as follows,

1.Desuckering:
You can see many suckers arising around a main Banana plant .These suckers will consume energy that goes to main stem that may lead to poor bunch formation with poor quality fruits. So you should remove the suckers that formed around the mother banana plant for better growth ,development and yield. Hence removal of unwanted suckers is called desuckering
But don't remove all suckers, leave a sucker which is arised during the flowering of the mother plant. Because  that sucker is required for next crop.
So how to do desuckering ?
Desuckering is done once in 45 days. Cut the suckers at ground level and pour 2-3ml of kerosene in the central core of the cutted sucker to kill the growing point of Pseudostem.
2.Propping:
When heavy wind is blown banana plants will fall down. If wind occurs in harvesting stage you will face heavy lossess. Lodging of banana plants is the major problem faced by most of the banana farmers. To overcome this problem propping is done.
So what is propping ?
Propping means staking of banana plants with bamboo poles, casuarina poles or using any other support materials.
Staking is done using single pole or with two poles. When you use single pole the top of the pole is placed against the throat of the banana plant, under the curvature of the emerged bunch. When you use two poles ,tie the two poles with rope and spread the legs of the poles to form a 'V' at the top and then held the throat of the banana stem in the 'V'.
If you won't prop, the banana stem may uproot or break at the middle.
3.Disbudding:
Removal of male buds after opening of all female flowers (after appearance of last hand) is called disbudding. If you leave the  male flower buds without removing, it will consume the plant energy unwantedly.
So how to do disbudding ?
After 7 days of emergence of last hand remove the male bud leaving 30 Cm of the stalk.
4.Bunch covering:
To improve the external appearance of a banana bunch, cover the bunch with polythene bag.
So how to do bunch covering ?
Cover the bunch with transparent polythene bag with 2 holes in winter season and 4 holes in summer season immediately after opening of last hand.
5.Mattacking:
As we know a banana sucker will flower only once and there is no use of the Pseudostem after harvesting so you have to cut the harvested Pseudostem. Otherwise the harvested pseudostem will consume energy that is required for a growing sucker. So now you know that removing of the harvested Pseudostem is called mattacking.
So how to do mattacking  ?
Cut the entire harvested Pseudostem, and then cut into small pieces and burry in to the soil as it increases soil fertility. If Pseudostem weevil infestation is there burn the Pseudostem instead of burrying.

All these operations will focus on getting a high quality banana bunch. When a bunch is good  it weighs good. Hence you will get more profit by selling it. Hope you enjoyed this post.

Grafting brinjal plant on turkey berry plant.you can make five years brinjal plant

A new technique of grafting brinjal (solanum melongena) plant on turkey berry (Solanum torvum) plant has emerged now.The grafted brinjal plant will become a tree similar to turkey berry plant and it gives high yield and the most interesting fact is the plant will survive upto 5 years and also show resistance to disease and pest.I won't believed it in beginning. I personally grafted brinjal on turkey berry plant, I get awesome results,I made cleft grafting and the graft united within 15 days. The plant started to bear brinjal fruits within a short span of time.I felt very happy with that . I tied the grafted portion with polythene strip. But remove the polythene strip as soon as possible after the rootstock and scion is united. If you leave the polythene strip for long time the grafted portion may get fungal or bacterial attack and the graft may get failed. In India it is one of the popular techniques but it is not known by all farmers. If all the farmers in India would know about thi...

Chilli leaf curl virus symptoms and control measures

Chilli leaf curl virus: Belong to genus Begomo virus Transmitted by insect vector white fly( Bemesia tabaci) Symptoms : The affected leaves curl upward towards midrib and give cup like appearance. The affected plants shows dwarf growth due to shortened internode The affected plants not set any fruits.   Control measures : Medicines are not find for most of the viral diseases in plants Uproot and burn the affected plants. Crop rotation should be done. Don't plant chilli crop again and again in the same field (monoculture). spreading of virus is controlled by controlling white flies since it spreads through white flies White flies can be controlled by spraying Dimethoate or Acephate Plant maize or sorghum plants around your chilli field .These plants will restrict white flies entering into your filed.
